Connect your screens.

Pick your device. Every screen ends the same way: it shows a 6-character code, and you type that code in your dashboard under Screens → Add screen.

Amazon Fire TV

Fire TV Stick 4K / 4K Max, Fire TV Cube, and TVs with Fire TV built in. About 10 minutes.

Not supported: the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and other models running Amazon's new "Vega OS" can't install apps from outside the Amazon store. Use a Fire TV Stick 4K or 4K Max (2nd gen) instead.

  1. On the Fire TV home screen, search for Downloader (orange icon, by AFTVnews) and install it. It's free.
  2. Turn on Developer options (only needed once):
    • Go to Settings → My Fire TV → About.
    • Click the device name (for example "Fire TV Stick 4K") 7 times until it says you're a developer.
  3. Go back to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options → Install unknown apps and turn Downloader to On.
  4. Open Downloader, click the address box and type signagelite.com/app, then Go.
  5. When the download finishes, choose Install, then Open. (Downloader then offers to delete the install file: choose Delete, it's no longer needed.)
  6. SignageLite asks how the TV is used:
    • Dedicated sign: starts by itself whenever the TV turns on and can't be closed by accident. Best for signage.
    • Shared TV: open SignageLite from the home screen when you want it; press Back twice to leave.
  7. If it asks to Display over other apps, allow it, then restart the Fire TV once (Settings → My Fire TV → Restart).
  8. The screen shows a pairing code. Add it in your dashboard under Screens → Add screen.

Remote control: press Menu (≡) or hold OK for 3 seconds for app settings (server address, reload). The Back button never closes the player in Dedicated mode.

Android TV and Google TV

Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia Shield, Sony/Philips/TCL/Hisense Android or Google TVs, and Android TV boxes.

  1. Install Downloader (by AFTVnews) from the Google Play Store on the TV.
  2. Turn on Developer options (only needed once): Settings → System → About, then click Android TV OS build 7 times.
  3. Allow Downloader to install apps: Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources → turn Downloader on. (On some TVs it's Settings → Device Preferences → Security & restrictions.)
  4. Open Downloader, type signagelite.com/app → Go → Install → Open.
  5. Choose Dedicated sign or Shared TV as above. For Dedicated, allow Display over other apps when asked (or Settings → Apps → Special app access → Display over other apps), then restart the TV once.
  6. Add the pairing code under Screens → Add screen.

Android phones and tablets: open signagelite.com/app in Chrome, tap the download, allow Chrome to install apps when asked, then install and open. Or simply use the browser player below.

Raspberry Pi

Our most reliable option, with remote reboot, Wi-Fi changes and TV on/off from the dashboard. About 15 minutes, mostly waiting.

  1. Sign in to your dashboard and open Screens → Setting up your own Raspberry Pi?
  2. Enter a screen name and your Wi-Fi, and click Download setup files.
  3. Install Raspberry Pi Imager and write Raspberry Pi OS (64-bit) to a microSD card. Say No to OS customisation.
  4. Copy all the downloaded files onto the card's bootfs drive, put the card in the Pi and power it on.
  5. After 3–5 minutes the screen appears in your dashboard by itself, with no code needed.

The dashboard page walks you through every step, including exactly what to pick in Raspberry Pi Imager. Need hardware? See our recommended players.

Smart TV, tablet or computer (browser player)

Samsung, LG and other smart TVs with a web browser, iPads, Android tablets, Windows and Mac computers.

  1. Open the web browser and go to app.signagelite.com/player.
  2. It shows a pairing code: add it under Screens → Add screen.
  3. Make it full screen (double-click on a computer, or the browser's full-screen option) and turn off the device's sleep or screen saver.

Browsers on TVs can be closed by the remote and some stop video after a while. For a sign that runs all day, a Fire TV stick or Raspberry Pi is more dependable.

We don't sell hardware. Any TV with an HDMI port works; these are suggestions, not endorsements. Links open an Amazon search, and prices change often.

Tips for screens that run all day

  1. Screen saver off: Fire TV Settings → Display & Sounds → Screen Saver → Start time → Never. Android/Google TV Settings → System → Energy / Ambient mode.
  2. TV auto power-off: many TVs switch off after 4 hours without a remote press. Turn off "Auto power off" / "Eco" in the TV's own settings. (Raspberry Pis also keep the TV awake automatically.)
  3. Same input at power-on: set the TV to start on the last-used input, or enable HDMI-CEC (Anynet+, SimpLink, Bravia Sync) so the player switches the TV over.
  4. Use the official power supply for Raspberry Pis, and a powered USB port or wall adapter for Fire TV sticks, not the TV's USB port.
  5. Offline is fine: once content has downloaded, screens keep playing through internet outages.
