Set up a Raspberry Pi
Make an SD card that sets itself up and adds the screen to your account.
A Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 makes the most reliable sign. Setup takes about 15 minutes, mostly waiting.
What you need
- A Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 (2 GB or more) with its official USB-C power supply
- A microSD card, 32 to 64 GB (High Endurance cards last longest)
- A micro-HDMI to HDMI cable
Steps
- In the dashboard, open Screens → Setting up your own Raspberry Pi?
- Enter a screen name and your Wi-Fi details, then click Download setup files.
- Install Raspberry Pi Imager on your computer and write Raspberry Pi OS (64-bit) to the card. Say No to OS customisation.
- Copy all the downloaded files onto the card's bootfs drive.
- Put the card in the Pi, connect the TV and power, and switch it on.
After 3 to 5 minutes the screen appears in your dashboard by itself. No code needed.
Remote control
Pis set up this way can be managed from the screen's page in the dashboard: restart the player, reboot, change Wi-Fi, and turn the TV on or to standby. They also restart automatically each night.
